Mercy has been provided in advance
Heb 8:12 (TLB)
And I will be merciful to them in their wrongdoings, and I will remember their sins no more.”
God loves you so very much. He knows there are days you will make mistakes. He knows there are days you will be weak and cut off guard. Sometimes, unconsciously you make mistakes. Other times, you are like the great Apostle Paul who sometimes did the things He didn't want to do (Rom 7:15-20). God knows there will be such days; days when unfortunately, you will sin and do wrong. But you know what, He has made provision of mercy for you for those days. He has released mercy in advance for you. The phrase "will be" in the scripture above is futuristic. God Himself said that in those days when you will sin, He will be merciful. Not only that, He also said He will remember your sins no more. Contrary to what many believe, God is not making a note of all your sins. No! The moment He forgives, He forgets! Once He forgives, He gives you a clean slate to start again.
So, quit beating yourself up for your mistakes and weaknesses and receive the mercy that has already been offered to you for days when you sin. God is such a wonderful God. He is merciful, compassionate and understanding. He is LOVE personified. When you make mistakes, realize that mercy has already been provided in advance and then "come boldly" to His throne, obtain the mercy and find grace (Heb 4:16). Don't approach Him timidly or 'fearfully' as if you think He is angry with you and will punish you for your mistake. No, He has said He won't (Isa 54:9). So, come boldly knowing you are approaching your Father who already made provision of mercy even before the offence.
Realize He is your Father. He is not looking for opportunities to punish you or scold you. He is not even looking or searching for reasons to bless you. He already has! Jesus is His reason to bless you and because of what Jesus has done, you deserve blessings not punishment. As you go about today, realize that you have a God that loves you and releases countless blessings to you on a daily basis (Psa 68:19).
REMEMBER, GOD DOESN'T EXPECT YOU TO SIN BECAUSE HE HAS ALREADY MADE PROVISION OF MERCY. NO! NEVER! HIS ABUNDANT GRACE IS NO LICENSE TO SIN! IT IS AN EMPOWERMENT TO LIVE RIGHTEOUSLY. I MEAN THE MOMENT YOU KNOW THE NATURE OF YOUR FATHER, HOW MUCH HE LOVES, HOW UNDERSTANDING AND COMPASSIONATE HE IS, IT MAKES YOU LOVE HIM AND WANT TO PLEASE HIM ALL THE MORE! THAT'S THE ESSENCE OF HIS GRACE. MORE SO, HE HAS GIVEN YOU HIS SPIRIT TO GUIDE YOU AT ALL TIMES.
